What to Expect – Tankless Water Heater Installation
Before- Preparation
Please make sure there is space for us to remove your old water heater. If there are items in your garage along the wall where we will be bringing in your new gas line, installing the new electrical line, or new copper piping please move them out of the way. If you need help moving any large items the crew will be happy to help you when they arrive. Since your water will be off you should have some bottled water for you and your family.
During
When the technicians arrive they will walk through with you and make sure you understand where the new tankless and piping will be going. After that the water and gas will be shut off until the installation is completed.
After
After installation the water and gas will be turned back on. The technicians will show you how to operate the unit. You will be provided with an owner’s manual and the warranty card. You will need to go online to www.foreverhotwater.com to register the unit. Rinnai has a short survey to take and we appreciate you taking the time to fill this out. You will receive a call from our office the afternoon of your job to let you know what day your inspection is scheduled for. The day of your inspection we will call to let you know what time of day your inspector will arrive. If any patching is needed we will schedule that after the inspection. After the patching is completed we will schedule your final inspection.
Special Care – Follow up
The day the tankless installation is completed please run your dishwasher and washing machine 1 or 2 times with nothing in them. This will help to flush the lines of the compound that is used to solder the pipes. For 2-3 days you will notice a funny smell and taste to the water. This is from the compound we use and is not harmful, but we do recommend drinking either bottled or filtered water until the smell goes away. In the case of any after hours emergency please call 510-228-7541.
